NYC / RIDE 2: Financial District

This ride was on a Saturday, so the streets were mostly dead or quiet. There were only a handful of lost tourists, overworked bankers, can collectors and joggers on the streets. Since there wasn’t much people watching to do, I spent most of my time looking straight up at the skyscrapers that overshadow the narrow streets.

Ride 1 in the New York City Bike Every Street project begins underneath the Brooklyn Bridge on South Street heading into the winding mess of one way streets that make up the financial district.
RACING TOWARDS RED HOOK

Red Hook is a Brooklyn neighborhood that is basically in my backyard so I was a little embarrassed that I hadn’t heard of the Red Hook Crit yet. The rules of the race are pretty straight forward: 20 laps around the course, 1 gear, 0 brakes.
